Exchange Programmes: Trading Your Ownership for Other Resorts
Exchange programmes extend your vacation ownership beyond your home club's resorts. By depositing your entitlement with an exchange company, you can access resorts globally. Understanding how exchanges work — and what they cost — helps you decide whether the added flexibility is worth it.
How exchange works
You deposit your available points or week with an affiliated exchange company. That company matches your deposit against available inventory from other affiliated clubs worldwide. You then book from this wider inventory, subject to availability and exchange rules.
Exchange companies in APAC
The two dominant exchange networks used by APAC clubs are RCI and Interval International. Each has its own fee structure, membership requirements, and inventory depth. Many APAC vacation ownership products are affiliated with one or both networks.
The cost of exchange
Exchange involves fees beyond your annual maintenance fee: typically an annual exchange membership fee and a per-exchange transaction fee. These fees vary by exchange company, season, and destination. Factor them into your cost-per-night calculation when evaluating an exchange stay.
What determines your exchange power
The quality of your deposit — determined by the value, season, and demand of your home resort — affects what you can exchange into. A high-demand APAC resort in peak season typically commands strong exchange power. A lower-demand deposit may limit your options in popular destinations.
